For her solo exhibition “THE OPPOSITE OF ANYTHING” Greet Billet (1973, Brussels) explored the question to what extent you immaterial and intangible as light can be 'captured' in the purest possible way, without the intervention of something or someone. Billet is known for her in situ installations in which she investigates how light translates from a digital to an analog context and vice versa. She discovered that the use of a mirror and colored foils in a neutralized space creates a light effect that is generated by nothing but the empty space itself and can be repeated everywhere. “This ephemeral event allows the visitor to see what light looks like as the opposite of something,” Billet said.
