Darkened library dictates artworks to hatch
Voebe de Gruyter is a narrative conceptual artist. Drawing with a performative character is the core of her work. This is clearly visible in her exhibition 'Darkened library dictates artworks to hatch'. In her case there are always forces of atoms that cling to each other and form a phenomenon we are not aware of. At Voebe de Gruyter there is a continuous chemistry between man and thing, because after all everything and everyone is made up of atoms.

Vlogger Marco Dreijer speaks about her solo exhibition at Galerie van Gelder , Amsterdam. Voebe de Gruyter sees a continuous interaction between people and things. For example, in her Chewing Gum drawings from 1994 (collection Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam) she describes crushed chewing gum on sidewalks containing spoken texts. In her new work, works of art are hatched by a library.
