Galerie Fontana is proud to open our 2020 season with two Berlin artists: Susanne Ring and Juliane Hundertmark.
Juliane Hundertmark is one of Berlin’s most creative and inventive painters. In her work, the quotidian is rendered as unfamiliar in dream-like worlds. The paintings are psychologically complex and provocative. Hundertmarks narrative scenes depict satirical portraits of humanity. Her figures too, are not what they seem. Solid bodies morph into outlined forms that allude to the figures alter-egos or subconscious musings.
The figurative ceramic work of Susanne Ring are in this duo presentation thus combined with Hundertmarks narrative scenes. Ring, also working in Berlin, creates sculptural assemblages that traverse and collapse the history of ceramic craft. She mixes her ceramics with wood, stone, glass and textiles to create expressive heads on, amorphous bodies. The sculptures are complex and personal snapshots of interpersonal encounters, events, experiences. The evocative sculptures reflect and project what is remembered, observed, felt and recognized in the body and by the body.
Hope to see you at Galerie Fontana!
