We believe in seeing, experiencing, feeling art. That can be done virtually, certainly, but does it not instinctively disappear too quickly in 'the cloud'? The art was made with a lot of love and attention last year, it deserves our attention now. We create this solution. In a small group of up to two visitors, according to the guidelines of RIVM, you can enjoy the art.
Register your ticket in the period that suits you, which is possible between 11:00 am and 11:00 pm.
We are ready to Welcome you.
Welcome!

Surrender Dorothy - Solo expositie Martine Johanna
The concept of Surrender Dorothy is located between fantasy and reality and is an ode to love, sexuality, desire, surrender, dreams, inspiration and romance. In this exhibition Surrender Dorothy stands for letting go of reason and to surrender to passion. This is connected to the love with yourself; a complex love that is often shadowed by self-hatred. The longing for romantic love, which has been fueled especially by girls from an early age, is, as it were, the ultimate solution for this self-loathing.
Surrender Dorothyis a reference to the text from a famous scene of the 'Wizard of Oz', in which black ink clouds ask for Dorothy's surrender.
This romanticization that you first discover as a child through fairy tales, romantic stories and movies nestles deeply and welcome in the portrayal of what love will be. True love, however, is a mirror, a sincere open embrace of yourself with all your shadow sides. Love heals, liberates, inspires, connects and devours.
About the artist
Martine Johanna is a visual artist, known for her colorful paintings with abstract and figurative elements. Her autobiographical work, seemingly light-hearted, explores the duality between youthful naivety and fear-riddled adulthood. The delicately painted figures share a sense of complete immersion in their own ‘internal psychic landscape.’
Martine Johanna has international success and regularly exhibits in the US.
