Press Release
Art Rotterdam / February 1 – 4, 2024
Bradwolff & Partners is delighted to announce its participation in Art Rotterdam 2024, where a selection of artworks by Ruta Butkute, Iva Gueorguieva, Katrin Korfmann, Jaehun Park, and herman de vries will be exhibited. These artists, who embody various disciplines, will be featured at booth 50.
Katrin Korfmann presents 'Swing', her latest work from the 'Homo Ludens' series, which she has been working on since 2015. This series places a central focus on the importance of play and imagination in our culture, with specific attention to dance as a means of cultural and social connection. With an unusual perspective, she creates a powerful and colorful image.
Jaehun Park presents 'Omnishambles', an ingenious 3D simulation video of a dilapidated studio. The mirror in this artistic world references the famous 'Arnolfini Portrait' by Jan van Eyck and depicts the search between knowing and not knowing in the artistic process: 'ignoramus et ignorabimus', meaning 'we do not know and will not know'.
Iva Gueorguieva's 'Moth: Dappled Light' demonstrates a potent combination of acrylic and collage on unstretched linen. She constructs her composition with lines, forms, and colors to create the illusion of space and movement, evoking profound emotions. Compositionally, she draws inspiration from Russian Constructivism, among other influences.
Ruta Butkute presents four porcelain objects that explore the illusion of movement within the immobility of the material. Working in the multimedia landscape, she also explores this theme in performances and spatial installations to investigate the boundary between the movable and immovable.
herman de vries, in his contemplative style, exhibits soil rubbings, unlocking the essence of the natural world through subtle artistic interventions. His works invite contemplation of the intrinsic value and beauty of the earth, and remind us of our deep connection with our surroundings.
We look forward to welcoming you at booth 50 during Art Rotterdam 2024.
