This is one of Sigurdur Gudmundsson's first photographic works. He isn't yet depicted as the universal "I" himself, as in "Event," also made in 1975 where he kneels, holding his head under a paving stone. In this sense, "Rijmhoek" is more of a still life featuring four words that rhyme in Dutch: book, corner, search, and cookie.
