Katrin Korfmann – The Turn (2025)
In The Turn (2025), Katrin Korfmann explores time and movement. A body spins, captured in forty moments of a jump. The work reshapes time: not as a single snapshot, but as a layering of movements.
The man in a cream-coloured jacket turns 180 degrees against a deep blue sky. From a distance, the image is abstract, the human form barely discernible. It’s only up close that the detailed rotation comes to life in hyper-resolution, where the movement becomes a world unto itself.
Korfmann examines time, structure, and chaos. The contrast between the rapid spin in reality and the still, static images creates a sense of tension. No single moment is fixed; the movement is always in flux, with control perpetually deferred. The work invites the viewer to look beyond the visible and explore the complexity of time and perception. The monumental piece consists of forty fragments that, together, form a unified whole.
