Recently I came across an interesting monograph on Bronisław Linke, the
Polish painter. I totally sunk in. He painted a series of paintings depicting
brick figures emerging from the ruins of destroyed Warsaw.
He called it “The Scream of Stones.” Today, many pre-war and post-war tenement houses in Warsaw are being demolished to make way for skyscrapers. I thought I would build a narrative analogous to Linke’s, only in relation to the contemporary architecture of my city.
