Peter Vos (1975) is known for his paintings in which he depicts animals in a stylized manner so that their character comes to the fore.
In is landscapes he often also uses a form of stylization, such as in this work of the Machapuchre, a sacred mountain in the Himalayas. Vos has a fabulous technique in which he paints layer upon layer and creates velvety transitions between the pinkish white of the snow and the gray of the mountain's rock. The mountain rises as it were from the shadow that falls on it's lower part, giving the image a kind of magical character as if appearing in a vision.
