Mount Kailash in Tibet, meaning "crystal" in Hindi, is a sacred place for Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and Bon. Pilgrims walk (or do prostrations) around the mountain, 52 km long on a very challenging terrain and in often difficult weather conditions.
The mountain is also the source of the Indus, Brahmaputra, Sutlej and Karnali river. With millions of people depending on this water for their livelihood.
