Since 2003 Martin Fenne (1964) has developed a very labor-intensive technique in which he sews satin piping together strip by strip.
By using strips of satin piping he recreates the shape of a mattress with a bulky blanket in an undulating motion. The bands of shiny material partially overlap and are slightly lifted from the surface, thus catching the light which produces a beautiful luster in blue and grey shades. The work Sofferte Onde Serene #6 is an ode to the piece by Italian composer Luigi Nono.
