In her work, Eleye Boerenkamps treats private events and personal history with the same dedication and reverence as a modernist might approach themes of space, light and colour. Through the archiving of private photography and idioms connected to her family she is able to use her personal experiences of growing up and connecting with people as a medium to create autonomous, often sculptural works. Here, a line is spun over several centuries to connect the appearance of someone very familiar to a cast of the unknown other.
