In her new works on paper Anya Belyat Giunta (1975) focuses on the secret garden. The gardens have exuberant vegetation and are bathed in an intense yellow light in which creatures appear that are both bizarre and touching. In other drawings, grotesque faces and bodies with bulging shapes transform into a kind of intimate landscapes that emerge as if in half-sleep. Anya Belyat Giunta sees them as territories of the soul hidden behind the directly perceptible. In Secrets 1, warm red bands of color flow down from which hands come forth. At the center of the image is a green puto-like figure that is gently touched and carried by these hands. At the bottom right a kind of lioness with red painted nails walks towards the dark column that reaches up to the puto. Due to the refined lines and details and the glowing colors, the alienating scene also has an endearing and warm character.
