Kimball Gunnar Holth is one of the most radical artists with whom Galerie van Gelder creates exhibitions. He shows his work in a way that is directly linked to simplicity, hesitation and honesty. It leads to so-called "stutter paintings", a cabinet with cleaning supplies and the mopping of a museum floor as an action on the way to a possible work of art.
In 'Why don't you paint us some nasturtiums?' he sings in an untrained singing voice about his doubts on whether he should make art that the audience will like better. However, making flower paintings, as he did years ago, is no longer his thing. It is now fervently searching for an image before it conforms to a usual aesthetic and beauty.
