Milah van Zuilen is an artist as well as a forest ecologist by training. In her work, she uses organic material like dried leaves and tree bark. In her latest series ‘Drift Sands’, she also works with sand and clay from different areas. By combining dried leaves and soil material, the artist highlights the connection between soil fertility and human interaction with the landscape. Her work also focuses on the square, a shape that characterizes a human perspective on the landscape.
