In 2020, I started taking solar photos with homemade pinhole cameras.
In the meantime, I took a large amount of photos. From some of them I made prints. But I found that the images lacked materiality. I went looking for something else, and expected to find it in translating them into large fabrics. Together with the Textiellab of the Textielmuseum in Tilburg, I investigated how to translate these images into tapestries. In doing so, I looked for qualities such as “landscape” and depth.
The photograph from which this tapestry was created was taken on the estate of Kasteel Wijlre. During the summer of 2020, I hung several homemade pinhole cameras on the estate. This shot has an exposure time of five weeks.
