High in the air, at over 4 meters, the brightly colored lilac sculpture stands on a metal pole. The polyester statue is a female figure, bent over and holding a bucket in both hands. Her long haired head is situated in the bucket and for the most part not visible. The title ‘Screaming in a Bucket’ says it all, and comes from a dream. Visual artist Adriaan Rees uses many materials and works partly in Amsterdam and in his own studio in Jingdezhen, China. He makes sculptures and installations, works on large-scale projects, performances and sculptures for the public space. Especially for Art Rotterdam, he presents this new version outside and high above all visitors: Screaming in a Bucket! (Livingstone gallery presents a special edition in porcelain with silver glaze in booth 45).
