KIMBALL GUNNAR HOLTH, Untitled [Ten canvases], 2023
text, paper, 10 canvases
Text on A4 paper:
‘Ten canvases were leaning against the studio wall. I thought maybe I could make some paintings of horses, or ponies. I wasn’t sure which was better. So I asked Voebe what she thought about my idea of painting horses or ponies and she reminded me that last year I had a show in Amsterdam in which I had written a short text about visiting a group show, where I had seen a cabinet-sculpture that was remarkably similar to a cabinet-sculpture I had just put in my show. In the text, I had also written that in this group show there was a series of paintings of horses hanging on the wall.’ KGH
Kimball Gunnar Holth met Voebe de Gruyter by chance at the CEAC / Chinese European Art Center in Xiamen. Here, both have an artist-in-residence at the same time for a period of three months.
From Saturday, November 11, 2023, the above work can be seen in a solo exhibition by Kimball Gunnar Holth at CEAC, Xiamen, China.
