Yves Velter is a Belgian artist (Ostend, °67) based in Ostend, Belgium. For the painter and sculptor Yves Velter, existential questions and the psychological issues associated with them are the core content of his artistic production. His works are strung together by a thematic thread. Yves Velter is fascinated by the individual and more specifically by the contemplative angle, that part with which we are familiar but cannot grasp. The hushed characters are based on existing people made anonymous by partially abstracting them in a timeless environment. They are placed in situations where they create an opening in reality, breaking through the impossibility of giving an answer.
