Within the walls of Kersgallery, Jop Vissers Vorstenbosch establishes himself as a painter who doesn't simply adhere to traditional methods. He describes himself as a 'painter who adds a personal touch'. This is evident in the way he presents his paintings, surrounded by self-designed sculptural environments that provide an unmistakable context. Instead of limiting himself to a canvas, Jop utilizes lightboxes where he places various layers of painted plexiglass. This transforms his works into unique painterly installations. It is not just the layers of paint that form the image, but specifically the layers of light and material that set the tone. One of his most notable creations can be seen at the Into The Great Wide Open festival, where he showcases meters-long artworks that mimic the flickering light of a malfunctioning fluorescent tube.
