The physical battle with her materials is a strong recurring theme in Cecilia Rebergen’s work. During her research into the interface of painting and sculptures, a series of works came into being that seems like ‘professional playground vandalism’: a powerful and cheerful series of violent sculptures, made using bent slides, partially molten and/or molested using excavators. Third Embrace is part of this series, in which she did more research into the application of discarded materials.
