HENRY BYRNE, Fantasy Island-Inflables, 2021 Holes-with-see-through is a regular subject in Henry Byrne's paintings. These are characterized by an illusionistic layering, as if a screen with openings is always placed in 2D between the viewer and the painted object. For Big Art 2021, Henry Byrne painted inflatable objects white. The elongated blue see-through painting "Fantasy Island" is carried by a duck with a large number of objects on its back. The color contrast is so great that it seems as if the inserted canvas wants to punch a hole in the stacked white objects.
