'Klauterwerk' is an interactive sculpture which the visitor can climb in, if desired. Formally it seemingly resembles the archetypal 'climbing frame' we know from playgrounds. On closer inspection the steel round profiles appear to be held together by bronze prostheses. These are bronze casts of natural elements from the area around Damme. Bronze branches, trunks, a little owl, etc... As a result, the landscape is literally taken up by the sculpture and the transparent character of the work in turn does not form an obstacle in the pastoral environment.
At the highest point of the sculpture is a windcock (bronze arrow)
through which the wind direction of the moment is also incorporated into the work.
As soon as the visitor interacts with the sculpture, he/she also becomes part of the artwork. In this way, visitor, landscape and sculpture become one. 'Klauterwerk' is literally approachable and
accessible with an underlying philosophical and ecological contemplation and questioning.
