Journal Drawing 1028 is the coloured version of Journal Drawing 1002 which is mainly in black and white. It is shows the interior of a house with three floors connected by four staircases. The two 34568 motifs consisting of a connected triangle, four, five-six and octagon are absent in this version. The floors and walls are now coloured, and decorated with geometric tessellations on the ground floor and the ceiling of the top floor.
It is an impression of Henri Jacobs' first house in Brussels in which he initiated the Institut des Mots project. In the institute, words are brought in at the basement. On the first floor, words can be deposited and recorded before being stored on the top floor.
The project breathes the spirit of Marcel Broodthaers, the famous Belgian poet and artist, in whose art language has a prominent role. At his current home in Brussels, Henri Jacobs founded the Institut de Carton, where he organises exhibitions of work on paper.
