The first element Elmar Trenkwalder made for his gigantic ceramic work WVZ 360 now in Museum Beelden aan Zee, is a lion like figure lying on the floor. It is followed up by a standing figure covered in ornaments which leads up to organic columns that together form a forest like enclosure the visitor can step into. In the summer of 2019 this first part of the sculpture was still unfired in Elmar Trenkwalder’s Innsbruck studio. In the duo exhibition of Elmar and Elisabeth Trenkwalder at Galerie Maurits van de Laar a slightly smaller lion like figure is on show related to the lion in WVZ 360. It has a beautiful green/blue changing shimmering glaze that brings the statue alive. On the overall photo of the WVZ 360 statue taken during the build up of the exhibition at Beelden aan Zee the lion can be seen on the lower left side of the impressive work.
