Puck Verkade made this gouache as part of a series of works on paper that are related to her latest film 'Unborn' (2021). In 'Unborn' a Monster Egg character comes to life, as it cracks open its shell to eerily reveal its hot pink legs and creepy claws. A bit silly but haunting and semi-alive, the Monster Egg explores the blurry lines of physical autonomy and biological determinism.
