JAAP KRONEMAN, Moving painting, 1998
In the first place, Jaap Kroneman considers himself a painter, but if you look at his oeuvre, a lot of his work falls under the heading of 'sculpture'. He pushes the boundaries in both disciplines. Here 'Moving painting' refers to both wall sculpture and painting.
In 'Moving painting' two (dazzling) movements can be observed. A foil painted with stripes continuously rotates horizontally over two rods, driven by an electric motor. A second sheet does the same, but it continuously rotates vertically over two aluminum rods. The two opposing movements create a cheerful confusion.
