Martin Fenne (1964) uses satin strips that he sews together one by one. Trained as a painter, he started experimenting with other materials at an early age and discovered satin as a material. Fenne is fascinated by color in painting, especially by how painters such as Giotto, Jan van Eyck and Piero della Francesca use color to build up and give volume to the human figure.
Vortex is a more abstract work in which he depicts the refraction of light in water. The slight bending of the color stripes suggests the speed and movement of the vortex.
