Quinda Verheul is fascinated by natural forces and raw materials. In her work, she addresses grand topics like the exploitation of natural resources which alter the landscape. Humans, nature and landscapes are approached as an interacting entity. Everything is one. Her new works derive from the knowledge that gold comes from space. Gold, a material that is so valuable and precious to us, seems to be abundant out there. The coloured concrete, and the contrasting pitchblack mirror remind us of a galaxy-like image. ‘Imaginary stars’, she calls them.
