The Belgian artist Willy de Sauter has been working on a consistent body of work since the 60s, using a fundamental visual language. Nowadays he focuses on monochrome chalk paintings and objects. De Sauter prepares his panels with a lot of patience, after which the painstaking process of applying and polishing layers of chalk starts. Inspired by his love for architecture, De Sauter does not limit himself to the wall’s surface, but he also installs his paintings in the space itself as installations.
