SALIM BAYRI, Dig, 2021
For his solo exhibition 'Moving Archive' at Coda Museum in Apeldoorn, Salim Bayri combined a canvas with sand templates and collage with a printed canvas 'Dig in my screen'. Sand is as old as the earth and so is drawing with it. Today an image can be made with a digital print.
That's different, but also the same idea. In the same exhibition two large windows are covered with a layer of buttermilk on which two videos can be seen, which alternately show a digital slide.
Salim Bayri has combined artifacts with his own work from both the archeological and jewelry collections of the museum. All from anonymous makers. In short, one exists next to the other; you can see that when you combine it like he does in 'Moving Archive'. KvG
