The tapestry Soleils couchants sur la Seine à Lavacourt is inspired by the painting of Claude Monet painted in 1880. This representation of a reflection of the sun on the water engages Laurence Aëgerter to answer in mirror. It plays on the asymmetry of the motif and disturbs our perception through effects of texture and brilliance. In her interpretation, the sun repeats itself five times, like a ricochet that extends the motif dear to Monet.
