HENRY BYRNE, Tell me when to stop, OK?, 2020
(appropriated painting of Jacco Oliver)
For his first solo exhibition in the Netherlands, Henry Byrne has created a series of works that he received from artist friends as rejected paintings. With their permission they have been reused as a kind of respectful Appropriation art. Each painting has a text with open lettering that just shows part of the original painting. A misty semi-transparent coat of paint was applied first.
During a studio visit Henry Byrne was asked by artist and friend Jacco Oliver "Tell me when to stop, OK?" while he was working on a painting.
