“’Non-conformist’ – the title of this exhibition and David Bowie go hand in hand. I love this behind the scenes look at the set build for the cover of the Lodger album, where Duffy was given free range to shoot what he wanted. It also demonstrates the visual experimentation and collaboration that Bowie unleashed for the artwork on of all his album sleeves. The completed sleeve artwork, a collaboration between Bowie, Pop Artist Derek Boshier and Duffy, again looks completely different to album artwork of the time, with the final sleeve photograph shot on a SX-70 Polaroid camera. This album formed part of Berlin Trilogy, Low (1977), Heroes (1977) and Lodger (1979).” Matthew Murray 2020
