“My sculptures are made from sheetmetal, ceiling tin and whatever other materials that I can salvage. The sheet metal sculptures are often in component form, that combine in ways with other components to create foggy narratives. They have a relationship to American early hillbilly and blues music. They have a certain anonymity that I like, a way to get out of myself. It’s banjo music compared to the piano, which is painting. I’m looking for a way out of habit, and routine in my work, and the sculptural work offers an open door to places familiar but unknow.”
