The series of gouaches 'Aus der schwarzen Kiste' (from the black trunk) suggests that you look out of a dark trunk through a keyhole. In the pawn-like recess you look at landscapes in which man has intervened in one way or another.
Here you can see in soft lila colours a wooden scaffolding in a woodland landscape. It could be a crane but also, less innocent, an old-fashioned siege device for slinging stones.
One of Tobias Gerber's keyhole gouaches is part of the Unlocked / Reconnected project that draws attention to the reopening of museums and exhibition platforms in the Netherlands.
