The series The Path of The Caterpillar originates in a journey Karin van Dam made with Ed Pien in Canada where they visited the mines of Lethbridge and descended in to a pit: an installation by Canadian artist Linda Duvall, where caterpillars had made pathways in the walls. This work is made with broad grahpite sticks to make cirkels. The form is organic and refers to cellular structures that underlies the forms in nature.
