The Diffraction '19, Rain series is made with MEDION scanners (type MD5345, MD6228 and MD6274). When scanning outside during a rainy day, Jannemarein found out that this type of scanner could, with the help of daylight, detect the raindrops on the glass, something her previously favourite Canon scanners never accomplished. Moreover, the raindrops reflect the immediate surroundings where Jannemarein was working, adding a sudden realistic and figurative touch to her otherwise very abstract results.
At the end of the day, after the scanning process, Jannemarein stacks the outcomes on top of each other in Photoshop and the result is time pressed together in an image of one day of rain.
