At first glance, Static – Study reads as a dense field of black, cream and grey. Looking closer, fragments of words and images emerge, only to be interrupted by another typeface, scale or direction. Saïd Kinos turns printed language into visual interference: the eye moves between trying to read and taking in the composition as a whole. The work holds the viewer in that unsettled space between message and noise.
