Eclipse is a seven-part series referring to the almost total solar eclipse of 12 August 2026, visible in the Netherlands. For each work, a pan was placed on a sheet of paper. The heat produced a circular imprint that gradually develops from a barely visible trace into a dark, almost completely black circle.
The series emerges from a simple physical gesture in which time, heat and material together determine the image. What is temporary and invisible — heat — leaves a lasting trace on the paper. As the imprint darkens, the series moves from light towards darkness. The action is deliberate, while the final trace emerges through what happens during the process.
