Emma Veulemans constructs her paintings through bold lines, clear structures and large, often unnatural fields of colour. Sharp contours, derived from forms found in nature, guide the composition. Viewed up close, the underlying layers of paint become visible. Veulemans deliberately preserves these traces of the creative process, adding depth to her seemingly joyful visual language.
