KIMBALL GUNNAR HOLTH, Alright, I will take it with me, 2025,
variable sizes
oil paint, 3 tiles, chord
Kimball Gunnar Holth's work is not made 'for the millions'. It moves within the broader ethos of artists like Gordon Matta Clark and (the young) Bruce Nauman, if you view his work as I see it. It is not only deconstructive, but it is also about the hesitation to create something decent that everyone understands is clear and therefore complete. The title of this tile work, 'Alright, I will take it with me', emphasizes this way of thinking. It demonstrates an attitude of 'I don't know what it exactly tells, but it looks good enough to take with me'; in this case, to art fair Art Island 2025. KvG
