The first Amsterdam edition of the Young Collectors Festival will take place from 11 to 14 November. That means a weekend full of stimulating activities, even if you are not a member of Young Collectors Circle. For example, on Saturday 13 November, you can attent a series of free guided tours along various Amsterdam-based galleries and artist studios*.
It is also possible to follow the practical masterclasses 'Collecting on a Budget' and 'How to Curate your Collection' for a small fee. In addition, you can ask the experienced art collector Ger van Dam everything about his motives and acquisitions during the presentation of his Dutch book "Van ‘kruimelverzamelaar’ tot mecenas". Already a member of Young Collectors Circle? Then you can also participate in private tours in the homes of art collectors and a speed date breakfast with seasoned collectors, in which they share their ultimate tips while you enjoy a cup of coffee, fresh orange juice and a croissant.
In addition, you can also see an exciting pop-up exhibition in the festival heart at Hazenstraat 18 (until Sunday 14 November). This sales exhibition was curated by the members of Young Collectors Circle and consists of a surprising mix of photography, painting, sculpture and textile. The proceeds will go to the artists and Young Collectors Circle. Participating artists include Hedy Tjin, Afra Eisma, Noor Nuyten, Vera Gulikers, Tobias Lengkeek, Satijn Panyigay, Tom van Veen, Sam Hersbach, Richard Kofi, Folkert de Jong, Marwan Bassiouni, Arjan van Helmond, Robin Speijer, Delphine Courtillot, Eva Spierenburg, Koos Buster Stroucken and Benjamin Li.
The festival is an initiative of Young Collectors Circle, part of a foundation that has been committed to making the art world more accessible for emerging art collectors, for nearly five years now. Various masterclasses, guided tours and talks in galleries, artist studios, museums and (international) art fairs make sure that the art world becomes a lot less abstract. In addition, they regularly invite experts to delve deeper into specific fields and trends.
* On November 13 you can visit the studios of Casper Braat, Inez de Brauw, Maura Biava, Neil Fortune, Uta Eisenreich and Marielle Videler. Participating galleries include Ellen de Bruijne Projects, Annet Gelink Gallery, TORCH, Caroline O'Breen, Tegenboschvanvreden, Fons Welters, Bildhalle, Galerie dudokdegroot, AKINCI, Lumen Travo, Stigter van Doesburg, Kersgallery and Galerie Gerhard Hofland.
