Until 27 February, Art Gallery O-68 is showing an exhibition with a series of special editions and multiples by no fewer than 39 artists. The exhibition in collaboration with Francis Boeske Projects is accompanied by a side program. During the course of the exhibition, artists, collectors and professionals from the sector are invited for special (Dutch) talks, which can be joined live in the gallery every weekend in February.
On 27 February, for instance, you get to meet art collector Ger van Dam, who founded the MALCOLLECTION Loppersum. Last month, he was interviewed by the Volkskrant newspaper and he recently published the Dutch book ‘Van kruimelverzamelaar tot mecenas’ ('From crumb collector to patron'). On 20 February, Boeske will speak to Michiel Hogenboom, who founded We Like Art, alongside Carolien Smit.
The talks also provide an opportunity to learn more about the artists behind the works, as studies show time and again that it's the background stories that make you fall in love with a work of art. The participating artists all made a work in an edition of three, with each work having a unique aspect. The exhibited works are all in the price range €150 - €2,100.
Francis Boeske: “A conversation with an artist always provides food for thought! Usually those conversations are one-on-one in an artist's studio, where I, as a gallery owner, am often the first to look at a series of new works. Reading a work of art and listening to what the artist has to say about it is a very special moment for me. Knowledge is power and with that knowledge, you will definitely look at the next work of art with fresh eyes. That is why Anne Mie Emons and I organised a series of conversations with 4 artists for Saturday and Sunday afternoons. ‘Boeske in conversation with…’. Although there may always be more questions than answers, I will try to lift a corner of the veil, to provide insight into how these artists work.”
The talks will take place every Saturday and Sunday in February from 3 p.m. and they will last 45 minutes. The gallery will be open from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Register your visit in advance atwww.gallery-o-68.com.
