Interview met Grace Schwindt
Grace Schwindt is a German artist based in London and Amsterdam. Her main artistic practice is focused on performance and film, but recently she has integrated sculptures and drawings as well. Many of her works explore aspects of historical events with an emphasis on social relations. It is however never obvious where she draws the line between fiction and non-fiction. According to Schwindt, her attempt is to clear institutionalized spaces from meaning and to deconstruct narrative structures, well knowing that spaces will always stay loaded with sociological connotations. Her complex multidisciplinary approach allows the artist to investigate events from multiple perspectives, and thereby oppose to the single reading. Schwindt herself coordinates the productions in detail, by writing her own scripts and choreographies and designing the costumes; both the content and the visual elements are treated with great care.
