This artwork is based on a 3D scan of real flowers, paying tribute to the city of Amsterdam on the occasion of 750th anniversary. The use of floral imagery represented by Dutch still lives echoes the country’s deep cultural connection to flowers, while the digital scan emphasizes how technology can preserve and reinterpret physical forms.
The interpolation and simplification processes reflect how the brain encodes memories translating complex details into abstract, essential impressions. This is a study of perception: the flowers appear as they might in memory vivid, fragmented, and reconstructed. A fusion of tradition and innovation, the work celebrates Amsterdam’s legacy through a contemporary lens.
