LAb[au] is a Belgian collective consisting of Manuel Abendroth, Jérôme Decock and Els Vermang. The name LAb[au], laboratory of architecture and urbanism, expresses both their love for theory and research as the concrete realisation of various projects.
The works of LAb[au] can be seen as a visual research into colour, light, form and movement, wherein they share characteristics with conceptual art, concrete art and system art. Their oeuvre is a fusion of art and technology generating a plurality of thoughts and architectural vision. Confronting the contemporary aesthetics with algorithmic logic, the works provide the viewer a sensory experience arousing wonder.
LAb[au]’s work has been exhibited at ACC (Gwangju, 2015), Art Basel (Basel, 2015), MACM (Montréal, 2014), MoMA (New York, 2014), Biennale di Venezia (Venice, 2013), ArtBrussels 2016 and in various solo- and group exhibitions in Europe, the US and South-Korea.
