GALLERY EXHIBITION | Summer Splash brings together three Korean artists - Jaeyoung Park, Haru K, and Songnyeo Lyoo - whose works reimagine the sensory and emotional textures of summer through vivid, layered, and conceptually rich compositions. Anchored in motifs such as swimming pools, gardens, and seasonal rituals, the exhibition reflects on summer not only as a visual delight but also as a metaphor for memory, leisure, and transformation.
Jaeyoung Park uses rhythmic brushwork and vibrant color to depict scenes of summer in a playful and energetic way. Objects such as a knitted donut-shaped float evoking the familiar form of summer pool tubes—appear in vibrant color, merging playfulness with surreal texture.
Haru K borrows the structure of traditional Korean landscape painting but merges it with contemporary symbols such as food, personal objects, and “mini-me” characters. His compositions humorously and symbolically portray modern life and leisure, where shifts in scale and repetition create a visual rhythm infused with pop-art sensibilities.
Songnyeo Lyoo constructs fantastical worlds anchored in summer scenes like gardens and beaches. Drawing on traditional ink-and-color painting techniques, she incorporates hybrid creatures, vivid palettes, and layered symbolism to create surreal, utopian landscapes that invite viewers into her imaginative visual universe.
Together, their works share a visual language shaped by pop aesthetics and surrealist strategies, inviting viewers into a re-enchanted world where fleeting joys become enduring visual narratives. Summer Splash is both a celebration and a reflection: a space where the ephemeral beauty of summer is captured with complexity, wit, and wonder.
