We are excited to soon showcase Remy Jungerman’s new body of work in an exhibition titled What the River Says. Tracing how the patterns seen in early 20th Century Maroon shoulder capes of Suriname mirror the patterns seen in the majestic quilts of Gee’s Bend, Alabama, Jungerman reveals how a rich geometry carried across the ocean to the Americas during the transatlantic slave trade has informed his recent work.
