For this project 15 inhabitants of a small mountain village called Kamiyama, located on Shikoku island, Japan, - women, man and children of different ages - have been taking photographs with a disposable camera. Photographs of objects, colours, movement, their loved ones and surroundings, - f o l l o w i n g t h e i n s t r u c t i o n s provided by artist Fleur van Dodewaard. For each of the 27 exposures on every film roll a subject is given, and only one chance to capture it!
The result is a body of work c o n s i s t i n g o f 2 7 s e r i e s o f photographs. Each series counts 15 photographs, showing personal interpretations and variations on the theme. The result is a body of work consisting of 27 series of photographs, of 15 variations each. This book shows a selection.
The work is made in the context of and in reference to the current COVID-19 pandemic. It aims at celebrating freedom in times of restrictions, creating bonds overseas and travelling in spirit to a place of dreams.
